This is what I mean by Expressionist Photography. Every single photo, even if it’s the same subject, gets processed based on my emotional reaction to it.
I took this photo from Lahaina looking out to Lanai and processed it entirely within my cell phone to get this vintage look.
Then the main app I used to create the effect dumbed itself down to the point of unusability.
This one is a personal favorite from my Hawaii photos though, so I’m grateful for how good that app once was. — at Lahaina Harbor.
It’s a reflection of the life I would have led if I hadn’t turned to the Arts. Being kind and gentle was a by my choice, not by my training. Outright aggression was what I was taught.
So my art takes it all in. Both the truths about me I like and those I’m not so fond of so that others who need to choose might understand that they actually do have a choice.
Even if it’s a hard one to make.
While present day images of mine almost always begin in color, photos like this one demand I restore them to the black and white aesthetic.
